The Northern Territory Government is committed to improving housing in remote communities with an investment of $1.1 billion over 10 years. Our Community. Our Future. Our Homes. focuses on local decision making, engagement and planning. It also includes a focus on local participation to deliver the work, to promote local economic development and develop local skills to build and manage housing.

National Partnership for Remote Housing Northern Territory (NPRHNT)

On March 2019 the Northern Territory and Australian governments signed the National Partnership for Remote Housing NT, securing $550 million in Australian Government funding from 1 July 2018 – 30 June 2023. Funding has recently been extended to 30 June 2024.

The Agreement aims to improve remote housing by reducing overcrowding for Aboriginal people in 73 remote communities and the 17 Alice Springs Town Camps.
