New 24/7 short-term accommodation centre in Darwin

A new 24 hour 7 day a week accommodation centre will open in Darwin from 5 June 2020 for a two month period to provide over-flow accommodation for visitors requiring short-term accommodation.

The facility in Marrara will provide short-term accommodation.

With the travel restrictions on biosecurity areas within the Territory set to be lifted on 5 June it is expected there will be more visitors coming to Darwin and the short-term accommodation facility will complement existing commercial accommodation options in the Greater Darwin area.

The new centre on Batten Road, Marrara has 50 short-stay beds, as well as amenities including a laundry, toilet and shower facilities as well as meal services.

The facility will be managed by nationally registered Aboriginal community housing provider, Yilli Rreung Housing Aboriginal Corporation (Yilli Housing).
