Infill redevelopment of public housing sites

The Northern Territory Government is seeking to redevelop six public housing sites across Palmerston, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs.

The sites will be transferred to the private sector for redevelopment. In return, the Northern Territory Government will receive newly built public housing properties of equal or greater value, aligned to current demand for public housing.

Infill development allows for renewal of public housing, more efficient use of public housing sites, realigns properties to be better suited to tenant needs, reduces repairs and maintenance costs associated with ageing stock, and benefits the economy through increased construction activity.

A Request for Proposal process has been released by the Department of Housing and closes on Friday 5 August 2016.
