Department of Local Government and Community Services becomes White Ribbon accredited
The Department of Local Government and Community Services (DLGCS), which is responsible for Women’s and Men’s Policy, and the whole of government domestic violence policy, has been awarded the White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation.
This award-winning accreditation recognises workplaces that are taking active steps to prevent and respond to violence against women.
The award was presented by White Ribbon representative Jennifer Mullen to the department on Thursday 28 July.
It allows DLGCS to join a leading group of organisations committed to social change and the prevention of male violence against women.
DLGCS CEO White Ribbon Libby Davies said: “DLGCS has evidenced commitment to gender equality, supporting employees to be more respectful across all spheres. They are a pioneer in contributing to national cultural change to prevent and respond to violence against women.”
The White Ribbon Workplace accreditation aligns with the Domestic and Family Violence Reduction Strategy 2014-17: Safety is Everyone’s Right.
The accreditation process involved undertaking surveys of staff and providing evidence that the department has appropriate support in place to understand, prevent and respond to violence against women.
