400 lot milestone nearing the mark

Published

The remote housing program is set to achieve a remarkable milestone with nearly 400 new lots delivered since the program commenced.

As at 30 June, 389 new lots had been delivered since the program’s inception, through subdivisions and infills.

When the program commenced there were only 57 available lots across the whole of the NT, meaning that delivering new housing was constrained until new lots were created.

The land servicing and headworks infrastructure program supports the delivery of new housing by developing serviced lots and connecting essential services. It focuses on infills (delivering new lots within existing community infrastructure), subdivisions (delivering additional serviced land), and headworks (the essential services infrastructure such as water bores, tanks and pipelines to support development).

Over the past year new subdivisions have been finalised in Galiwin’ku, Maningrida and Hermannsburg, and work is underway on new subdivisions in Beswick, Pirlangimpi and Yirrkala.

Reaching this milestone means that the program can continue to roll out across the NT.
