First Pride in your Place Award winner for 2019

Congratulations to the first Pride In Your Place Award winner for 2019 - Bakewell resident, Filomena Lemos.

Filomena has transformed her backyard in little more than a year.

Housing Officer Harry Spirou said it was wonderful to see Ms Lemos had made her house into a home, with a garden of pot plants.

“She had a beautiful, well-maintained, clean and small garden,” Harry said.

Filomena was shocked to be nominated for the monthly awards.

“I can’t believe it,” Filomena said, enthusiastically.

She was even more surprised to receive the call, notifying her of her win.

“She was so excited (when I called to tell her),” Harry said.

The awards are designed to reward tenants who look after their garden and maintain their property, and encourages a sense of ‘pride in your place’.

Filomena will receive a certificate signed by the Minister for Local Government, Housing and Community Development, plus a $200 gift voucher.
