Public housing tenants praise $69 million stimulus work

Katherine tenants say the $69 million stimulus package has had a positive impact, with significant repairs maintenance and upgrades carried out on public housing properties.

Tulleitha George was all smiles, when she was handed the keys to her newly renovated public housing property, which had received a full internal upgrade.

“It’s a big relief. The kids are a lot happier,” Ms George said.

Jennifer Roberts also received a full internal upgrade to her public housing home.

“I feel good, and happy and proud,” she said.

“I have four kids. They need a good home to stay, they are home schooled,” Ms Roberts said.

Works are being carried out on individual properties, as well as complexes throughout the Katherine region.

Vacant properties are also being returned to housing stock.

The work will continue until the end of the financial year.
