Housing’s first welcome pack provided to Hidden Valley couple

For Benedict Stevens, moving into his new two bedroom home in Hidden Valley Town Camp is particularly special, as his grandmother used to live in the house on the same block years earlier.

Benedict and his wife Ingrid White are the first recipients of a Housing Welcome Pack, after signing up as tenants last Friday.

The welcome pack aims to help tenants keep their homes clean for their own health, and prevent avoidable maintenance and repairs so they can enjoy the comfort of their new home.

The welcome pack includes a bucket, mop, broom, rake, a hose with attachments, dustpan and small broom, toilet brush and stand, scrubbing brush, vinegar, bicarbonate soda, toilet paper, cleaning cloths and a laundry basket.

“Thank you for the ‘housewarming’ present,” Benedict and Ingrid said.

Housing Officer Courtney Hey from our Alice Springs Office explained how to use the cleaning products.  The vinegar and bicarbonate soda were a surprise to Benedict and Ingrid, especially how effective, safe and inexpensive they are as cleaning products.
