Contractors happy with the $69 million stimulus
The Northern Territory Government’s $69 million stimulus program continues to stimulate the building industry, with a public housing complex in Gray among the latest to undergo a facelift under the initiative
Killarney Homes co-directors Damien and Michael Moriarty, say the work completed at the Gray complex was their first stimulus project.
“We saw the stimulus program advertised through Master Builders. We made an expression of interest and eventually we had opportunities come through which we competed for, and we were lucky enough to gain this one,” Damien said.
Car park bollards, new security lighting, new fencing and updated landscaping was completed at the complex.
Michael Moriarty said the refurbishments took four weeks to complete.
“We’ve sourced all of the goods and services locally. We’re a local Palmerston business. The money that has been spent on this project has stayed in the Territory,” he said.
Energy efficient LED solar powered lights have been installed, and footpaths have been levelled.
Works under the $69 million stimulus program are currently being finalised.
