All PHSOs now equipped with cameras

Body worn video cameras are now part of the standard equipment for Public Housing Safety Officers (PHSOs).

The department ran a trial of the equipment earlier this year, which enabled it to adapt the usage to the needs of its PHSOs.

The body worn video cameras have been included in the standard equipment to allow for more accurate reporting of incidents and interactions between PHSOs, tenants and the public.

The cameras will be operating on standby whenever a PHSO enters a public housing premises and the PHSO can then tap the camera to record when required. All persons will be notified if they are being recorded.
