$24 million town camp spend seeing positive results

Town camp residents are excited to see the results of a $24 million immediate injection into their housing needs.

The Northern Territory Government allocated the funds to address urgent repairs and infrastructure in town camps, following the release of the Town Camps Report in April

The funding also addresses health and safety issues.

Michael Hayes from Tennant Creek Village Community Living Area says he is impressed with the work which has been undertaken on his home.

While he was living in transitional accommodation for three weeks, Mr Hayes’ home received a new roof and termite treatment.

“When it rained, it leaked,” Mr Hayes said.

“It’s real good now, I’m happy with it.”

A second house in the Community Living Area has also had its ceiling and water main replaced.

A contract has been awarded for similar work on a further two homes.
