Central Australia renal accommodation project

On 22 June 2015, the Commonwealth and Northern Territory Government entered into a $10 million agreement for the delivery of family-centric renal accommodation in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek, along with infrastructure for dialysis facilities and subsequent staff accommodation in Kaltukatjara, Papunya and Mount Liebig.

Central Australian Affordable Housing Company (CAAHC) was awarded the tender to refurbish and manage a total of ten homes - eight in Alice Springs and two in Tenant Creek. CAAHC started the construction and upgrade work on the houses in August 2016. The work was completed in June 2017. CAAHC will provide property and tenancy management of the dwellings to eligible tenants for a minimum of ten years from the completion date.

The construction of new renal clinics and three-bedroom renal nurse accommodation in Kaltukatjara and Papunya started in March 2017, and all work was completed in September 2017. The dialysis clinic upgrade work at Mount Liebig also started in early 2017 and was completed in November 2017.
